PHILADELPHIA – Temple women’s track and field head coach Elvis Forde announced today that Charlotte Imer would join his staff as an Assistant Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach. Imer comes to Temple with a combined six years of experience as a coach and Division I student-athlete.
“We are so happy that Coach Imer is joining us and she is going to a wonderful job for us,” Forde said. “Our athletes are excited about change, and Coach Imer will be able to bring her coaching savvy and success to our athletes and bring them to championship performances.”
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to be a part of such an exceptional program here at Temple University,” Imer said. “I want to thank Coach Elvis Forde for bringing me on board to his coaching staff. I am really looking forward to working with the talented group of student-athletes we have currently, as we continue to build from a strong foundation with the goal of elevating both men’s and women’s cross country and track programs to new competitive heights.”
Imer joins the Cherry & White after having most recently spent time at Catholic University as an assistant cross country/track and field coach. Before that, she spent two years as an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech while earning her master’s degree in exercise science, physical education and wellness. She assisted the Golden Eagles with recruiting at both the local and regional levels in addition to supervising practices and mentoring student-athletes.
Prior to Tennessee Tech, Imer served as graduate assistant cross country coach at Tennessee-Martin for one year, assisting both the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs with management and coaching responsibilities. She was heavily involved in the planning, implementing and execution of practice while also working with student-athletes on goal-setting and providing support to international athletes.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Imer was a standout athlete in both cross country and outdoor track & field at Eastern Kentucky University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in December 2017. She earned All-America honors in cross country All-American in 2016 after finishing 31st at the NCAA championships, the highest ever finish by an EKU woman at nationals and second-highest-ever finish by a woman out of the Ohio Valley Conference.
In cross country, Imer was a three-time USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region selection (2015, 2016, 2017), a two-time NCAA All-Region honoree (2015, 2017) and a two-time All-OVC First Team recipient (2015, 2016). She was also named the OVC Runner of the Year in 2016 and 2017. As a senior, she helped lead the EKU women to their first NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships where they finished 23rd.
Imer was also an All-American track & field, earning second team honors in the 5,000-meter run after finishing 14th in a personal-best time of 15:59.3 at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon in 2017. Earlier that year, she shattered the EKU school record with the same time, becoming the first EKU women to ever run sub-16:00 in the 5,000 meters.
Imer was named the OVC Track Athlete of the Year as well as the EKU Female Athlete of the Year twice. She also won the OVC indoor 3,000-meter championship in 2016 and 2017 while claiming the OVC title in the indoor 5,000m in 2017. During her career, the Colonels won three consecutive OVC women’s outdoor championships.
