Star WA mare Inspirational Girl will be out to bounce back from an interrupted spring campaign when she resumes in Saturday’s Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

Transferred to the Danny O’Brien stable for a Melbourne spring campaign, the Group 1 winner was sidelined after only one start when fifth in the Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

She was scratched from the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington with an elevated temperature and then had a minor operation to remove an epiglottic entrapment.

WA hoop Damian Lane is likely to ride Inspirational Girl in what is shaping up to be a star-studded Orr with I’m Thunderstruck, Sinawann, Tofane and Behemoth among the expected starters.

“She looks good and she’s carrying a bit more condition than normal,” Inspirational Girl’s owner Bob Peters said.

“She’s built up a bit and it’s been a while since she’s raced, so she will probably need the run.

“This is the starting point to see what level she’s at.”

A brilliant winner of the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot in 2020, Inspirational Girl will fly the flag for Peters on the east coast after Superstorm sustained a splint bone fracture last month.

The six-year-old has been nominated for the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington, but Peters hopes she gains a wild-card entry to the $5 million All-Star Mile (1600m) by winning the Blamey Stakes (1600m).

“She’ll go to the Blamey after this and I think the it would be hard to get to the Australian Cup,” Peters said.

“It’s only a week after the Blamey.

“There’s no reason she wouldn’t go on to Sydney after, if everything was going all right.”

Peters’ filly Fine Romance will again clash with boom three-year-old Trix Of The Trade in Saturday’s Listed Challenge Stakes (1500m) at Ascot.

Fine Romance ran second to Trix Of The Trade in the Listed Breeders’ Classic (1400m) at Pinjarra last start.
